Solar Design Engineer

Job Description:

As a Solar Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing solar energy systems. Your responsibilities will include creating detailed plans, conducting site assessments, analyzing energy production, selecting components, and collaborating with various teams to ensure the successful implementation of solar projects. Your technical expertise will contribute to the efficient and sustainable utilization of solar energy.

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for solar projects.
• Provide support during the procurement and construction stages of solar projects.
• Design solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) arrays, solar thermal systems, and related components.
• Utilize software tools and simulation models to analyze energy production, system performance, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate factors like shading, sun angle, and structural considerations.
•  Select appropriate solar components such as panels, inverters, mounting systems, and energy storage solutions.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, materials, and techniques to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
•  Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in solar energy technology.
•  Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during the design and installation phases.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to integrate solar systems into existing infrastructures.
• Assist in project cost estimation, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders, clients, and team members.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and records.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
• Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes related to solar installations.
•  Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, PVSYST, Helioscope, or similar tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of solar energy principles, PV technologies, and energy conversion systems.
•  Proven experience in solar system design, preferably in both residential and commercial settings.
•  Familiarity with energy storage systems and grid integration.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients.
